Ofqual’s Isabel Nisbet discusses international qualifications

Ofqual chief executive Isabel Nisbet discusses qualifications around the world.

Ms Nisbet explains that the UK sometimes falls behind its international colleagues, because too many working adults do not have an equivalent of five GCSE’s.

However, on the other side of the scale, there are a number of countries that look to the UK as a source of education expertise. Some of the UK’s awarding bodies are famous for delivering high quality education, and Ms Nisbet goes on to explain that what many nations are looking for when they buy international qualifications is the assurance of a national stamp of approval for a qualification. This is where Ofqual provides a vital role to awarding bodies to sell their qualifications, she says.
