Free lunch campaign bags AoC public affairs award

The Association of Colleges (AoC) has secured a top PR award for its grassroots-led campaign that helped extend free meals to disadvantaged 16-18 olds in colleges.

Its No Free Lunch? campaign called on the government to bring colleges in line with school sixth forms, stopping 100,000 students across the country from missing out over the disparity in funding.

Piran Dhillon, AoC’s public affairs officer, said: “We were so excited to be shortlisted for this prestigious award and winning is testament to the hard work put in by colleges, students and MPs to resolve this long-standing inequality.”

The CIPR Excellence Award for public affairs recognises outstanding achievements of individuals, in-house teams and agencies across all sectors of the profession.
