Leicester College joins 157 Group
Leicester College has become the 29th member of the 157 Group of colleges.
157 Group executive director Lynne Sedgmore praised the college for its “forward-thinking approach to the curriculum”, and for addressing the needs of its local population.
“We are really pleased that the college – a member of five National Skills Academies and a hub for the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy – is joining the 157 Group and will add to our policy thinking and practical work for the benefit of the whole sector,” said Sedgmore.
Verity Hancock, Leicester College’s new principal, said: “We are excited about adding to the work of the 157 Group, influencing the thinking of policymakers and raising the quality of provision for learners across the sector, as we have for learners and employers in Leicester and Leicestershire.”
Members of the 157 Group, which was formed in 2006 in response to a call in Sir Andrew Foster’s report for principals of large successful colleges to play a greater role in policymaking, range from Sunderland College in the north-east to Cornwall College in the south-west.
