Graduation ceremony to celebrate Barnsley College students’ success

On Friday 9 November, students from University Campus Barnsley (UCB) and Barnsley College will process from UCB on Church Street to The Civic on Hanson Street as part of their annual Graduation celebrations.

This year there will be two ceremonies to honour those students who have successfully completed Higher Education courses over the last year and will be attended by graduands, their guests and VIPs including senior UCB and Barnsley College staff and The Worshipful the Mayor of Barnsley. The processions will leave UCB on Church Street at 10.50am and 1.50pm led by a local brass band.

Dr Louise Ellis, former student of Barnsley College and current Director of Sustainability Services at the University of Leeds will be an inspirational guest speaker at both ceremonies.

To allow the procession to pass safely through the town there will be some temporary road closures. The following roads will be closed for approximately 15 minutes at 10.50am and 1.50pm: Church Street, Eastgate, Hanson Street, Regent Street, Royal Street and Sadler Gate.

We invite members of the public and local businesses to support the students and their achievements during the processions.
