Edge Foundation announces recipients of 2018 Grant Fund Awards
The Edge Foundation has announced the eleven recipients of its 2018/19 Grant Fund totalling £1 million today (29 March 2019).
Applications to the Grant Fund had to address at least two of the following five funding themes:
- Improve the design and delivery of engaging and relevant Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance
- Support the development of Project Based Learning (PBL) and associated profound employer engagement
- Support the development of a 14-19 curriculum which integrates both academic and technical/professional subjects
- Support the development of innovative approaches to higher education at levels 4, 5, and 6
- Ways to measure the performance of technical education.
Edge Chief Executive, Alice Barnard, said:
‘We were excited by the sheer volume of applications and impressed with the very high quality, so choosing just 11 has been a challenge, but we are delighted to be able to support a range of projects and initiatives which are closely aligned to Edge’s vision and priorities.
‘It is clear that educators in schools, colleges and universities are recognising that young people need and deserve more from their education than a handful of exam certificates. What all the successful grant applications share is an ethos that learning in the 21st century has to be relevant to the real world, to work and to our communities.’
