Decision: Revised direction issued to Birmingham city council

A revised statutory direction to Birmingham city council recognising the transfer of children’s social care to Birmingham children’s trust.

This direction has now closed. A revised direction issued on 22 July 2019 by the Department for Education (DfE) replaces it.

This revised direction acknowledges the transfer of children’s social care services to the Birmingham children’s trust.

It requires Birmingham city council to co-operate with the Secretary of State’s Children’s Services Commissioner, and to engage with the trust and partners in a way that supports improvement.

This direction replaces the earlier statutory direction issued to the council in November 2016.
