Speakers for Schools partners with National Grid and Young Enterprise to offer inspiring workshops for young people
Education equality charity Speakers for Schools (@speakrs4schools) has joined forces with National Grid (@nationalgriduk) and Young Enterprise (@youngenterprise) to provide three insightful workshops to 60 young people across the UK.
Taking place between 27th and 29th April 2021, the hour-long workshops are open to young people aged over 16 and in Year 12.
Students will be invited to attend three virtual workshops covering team building, insight into the energy sector, the job roles needed to support key industry priorities, and special advice on accessing a career from National Grid’s recruitment team.
The Grid for Good initiative gives workshop participants the chance to access one-on-one mentoring, work experience and additional exposure to apprenticeships and job opportunities at National Grid.
The overall aim of the initiative is to help raise awareness of the wide range of roles in the energy sector, particularly related to sustainability and reducing carbon emissions, while providing support and access to the available career pathways with National Grid.
The deadline to apply is by 5pm on Tuesday 20th April, and applicants can register for the placement here.

The initiative with National Grid and Young Enterprise is one of many being facilitated as part of Speakers for Schools’ Green Skills Week campaign, teaming up with the UK’s top environmentally friendly employers to open young peoples’ minds to green jobs and the green economy. 5,000 work experience placements are being facilitated as part of the campaign, as well as careers talks with 80+ sector leaders, including Alexandra Lewis, Group Treasurer and Director of Pensions of National Grid and Caroline Lucas MP.
