FE Careers website redeveloped with a new look and new features

Huge developments at FE Careers as our sister site gets a new look and a host of new features to make life easier for jobseekers and advertisers alike.

FE Careers, our sister site, has launched its biggest web development to date – with a whole new look and loads of new time saving features to make finding the right job and appropriate matching even easier. FE Careers is the largest job advertising site in FE, with over 2,000 FE and Work Based Learning jobs advertised each week. Even before these major developments FE Careers had their most successful month to date with 105,000 visitors notching up 2.2 million hits.
This is FE Careers biggest development yet. Job seekers can now search in seven different ways to find FE and Work Based Learning jobs, compared to four with the old system. Jobs via email and via RSS have been enhanced.
For advertisers there is a whole series of time saving features, such as screening questions, up to 4 attachments per job ad. Advertisers can also have a custom RSS feed built so their job ads administered on FE Careers will be automatically updated on their own company or college vacancy web page. FE Careers has also implemented an interactive rate card for new clients, saving time and making their advertising service even more automated.
FE Careers have also invested heavily in recruitment branding tools to help advertisers promote their business. Due to the launch of FE Video (www.FEvideo.co.uk) at the beginning of the year advertisers can also upload videos in their job adverts on FE Careers, explaining why job seekers should join them.
The FE Careers CEO, Gavin explains “We have been asking for feedback from job seekers, our advertisers and new clients on what they want from the site. It’s their site after all. So we have added all of these to the new FE Careers system, and thought up a few more time saving features to make life easier for everyone. Life just seems to have sped up over the past couple of years for everyone – time is no longer money – it’s a precious commodity. So if we can save time and make more accurate matches for job seekers and advertiser – then we’re doing our job.
“Job seekers have more flexibility in the ways they can search for jobs. We are also offering more accurate proactive approaches with jobs via email and jobs via RSS. We have also set up a jobs via RSS service to mobile for job seekers that are keen to use this feature.
“Now for advertisers we’ve totally gone for it. Our advertisers have always given us feedback on how happy they have been with the quality of applicants from FE Careers; we’re a quality – not quantity site. No one wants to wade through hundreds of irrelevant CV’s – that’s why our advertisers choose us… but we wanted to take this a step further and ensure that job seeker responses are even closer to the advertisers requirement. So we have introduced screening questions and attachments to jobs to ensure that job seekers that apply are hitting the bull’s eye even more.
“Many of our advertisers found it difficult to juggle their time to administer several websites at once, particularly advertisers from large training providers and FE Colleges found it difficult to keep their vacancies up to date on their organisations website. So we developed Custom RSS feeds so they only have to update FE Careers, and this will automatically update their own website with their latest vacancies.
“Many of our advertisers on FE Careers are also big on recruitment branding, so now they can easily upload short videos on why someone should work there. Many advertisers are excited by this – to be honest the majority are not ready to implement this yet – but we’re offering future proof recruitment branding solutions. We’ve always got a waiting list on enhanced advertising on FE Careers, with some of our packages commanding a six month to a year waiting list. This was frustrating to many of our advertisers, so with our re-design we have enabled more enhanced advertising options to keep more of our advertisers happy”
FE Careers have developed a platform to advertise and find the latest jobs in FE and Work Based Learning, but enable the sector to keep up with the latest news on www.FENews.co.uk , the latest education exhibition and event information with www.FEevents.co.uk and share video clips and best practice with www.FEvideo.co.uk
