Former LSC key player joins Preston College as corporate strategist

Preston College has appointed Robin Newton-Syms, the former LSC national director of communications, to a newly created role to oversea its strategic direction.

The position will ensure a strategic match between the college’s forward planning and Government policy, and will help support its senior management and Governors through the temperamental economic climate.

Mr Newton-Syms said: "I’m delighted to be joining the college at such an exciting time. This is a newly created role and I’ll be working closely with the Principal and the Governors to take us from being a ‘very good’ college to an ‘outstanding’ one.

"In practice, that means developing additional areas of excellence and building on the very high standard of teaching across the college. It’s about making sure everyone who comes to Preston College – students and staff – know they’ve made the right choice and feel proud to have been a part of our community.

"Preston is my home town and I am proud of my local college and its achievements. I’m really looking forward to helping take it to the next level and I firmly believe it’s well placed to become one of the very best there is."

Willie Mills, principal of Preston College, commented: "We are extremely fortunate to have someone with Robin’s skills and experience joining us at such an important time for the college.

"This is a pivotal role for our future planning and he will bring added strength to the college’s existing management team."
