Meet Vandita, the Woman on a Mission to Help Redefine the Value in Tissue Products

Oceans, part of Accrol Group, is celebrating International Women’s Day by putting the spotlight on one of its star female employees – Vandita Vaidya, Oceans technical manager.

Vandita joined the business in 2020 and is responsible for helping improve everyday tissue, household and personal hygiene products.

Vandita said: “When Accrol took charge of Leicester Tissue Company, it was a conversation with Graham Cox, Accrol’s managing director, that allowed me to outline my career aspirations and my desire to focus on technical and new product development and the changes I wanted to see.

“Fortunately for me, Graham was aligned with the changes and promoted me to technical manager, allowing me to lead all technical and product developments.”

In her role with Oceans, Vandita has implemented robust and well-controlled processes, helping to improve the flow of developments. In addition, she has made it her priority to better educate and manage all stakeholders and their expectations to achieve successful outcomes.

As an organisation that prides itself on gender diversity within leadership roles, hiring Vandita helped grow the number of female figures in leadership.

As of 2022, Accrol had pushed this rate to 22 per cent – a huge increase from just 5.4 per cent in historical times – using a combination of slick recruitment strategies and the promotion of internal talent. And there are hopes to further boost this to 25% by 2025.

In her role, Vandita understands the importance of diversifying leadership roles; “Times are changing, and perceptions of leadership are too. It’s not about who you are and what you look like, it’s more about your capability.

“I want to grow, explore and challenge myself each day and be an example to all the women out there who want to work. There are organisations like Accrol which will help and support you to fulfil your dreams.”
