EACH step counts for Cambridge Regional College students

Students clocked up an amazing 260,000 steps in just four hours for a novel charity fundraiser in aid of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices.

The group of 12 students from Cambridge Regional College set up a stall at Milton Country Park and invited families and visitors to join them in their bid to help the charity – raising awareness as well as much-needed funds.

The students, from CRC’s International centre and Uniformed Public Services faculty, launched their ‘EACH Step Counts’ campaign after hearing an inspirational talk from the charity during a National Citizen Service programme.

They raised more than £400 and boosted their target of 250,000 steps to 261,773 – more than 130 miles – thanks to support from visitors to the park.

Lecturer Cathy Watts said: “The students formed a great fundraising team and worked hard to complete the challenge for a great cause – running as well as walking to reach their target in such a short time.”

EACH supports families and cares for children and young people with life-threatening conditions across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk.
