Havering to host Bricklaying Forterra Females Competition

Havering College of Further and Higher Education is very proud to be hosting the Bricklaying Forterra Females (BFF) competition, the first ever all-female competition of its type.

The aim of the competition is to find the best female student and apprentice bricklayers in the UK, as well as encourage more females to consider bricklaying and other construction trades as a career option to address the current skills shortage the industry faces.

The competition will kick off the College’s abundance of National Apprenticeship Week activities on Monday 4th March at 8:45am, with the winners being announced at 4pm. It will be taking place at the Rainham Construction Centre campus.

Bob Noseda, the Sector Skills Advisor at the College, said:

“The concept of this event is to give female students a platform and hopefully encourage them to participate in the other Skills events that take place each year.  The vision of Forterra and Havering College is totally aligned regarding this challenge and will be adopted by other sectors within the construction industry.”

There are 16 spaces available and females of both junior and senior levels are able to enter. There is a maximum of two students per college and spaces will be filled on a first come, first served basis.

If you or anyone you know would like to enter, the deadline for entries is Thursday 14th February.
