Hilton to recruit 50 interns in a drive to encourage more young people to join the hospitality industry

Hilton is recruiting to fill 50 corporate internship roles in the UK and Europe starting in June and July 2020 in a drive to encourage more young people to join the hospitality industry.

The year-long internships are available to students looking to pursue a career in areas including engineering, interior design, finance, food and beverage, and HR. Roles are open to university students and graduates from across the globe, providing hands-on experience for those looking to kick-start their career in hospitality. Successful applicants will be placed in locations including Hilton’s corporate offices in Watford and Glasgow, as well as properties in Amsterdam, Frankfurt or Barclona.

Sophie Piggott, Energy and Environment intern 2019, said,

“I wanted to be part of a company that strives to achieve environmental goals on an international scale, which is why I chose Hilton. I have already had so many opportunities to build my experience, including visiting hotels which all face different environmental challenges, interacting with engineers, and helping to run major projects. Hilton truly is an amazing place to work; you have the opportunity to work with so many different people and I’ve quickly been made to feel part of the team. I know my views and ideas are valued, so I’ve become more confident, more ambitious, and I can only recommend applying to this programme!”

Interns have the chance to get stuck into major projects which range from planning and executing events, to tracking and analysing sustainable practices, right through to developing, casting and filming new adverts for the company. Last year, projects took interns to destinations including Rome, Prague, Munich, Athens and Dubai. Almost one in four interns then returned to Hilton as full-time Team Members after graduation.

Rob Zajko, Senior Director Talent Acquisition Europe, Middle East and Africa said,

“Our interns are incredibly valuable to our workforce, bringing fresh perspectives, new ideas and great energy to our teams. We’re proud to have been recognised as the #2 best place to work globally, and we’re looking for passionate, committed students and graduates to join our growing teams across the world. So whether you want to be an engineer, an accountant, an interior designer or anything in between, the hospitality industry provides amazing opportunities to learn and progress – not to mention travel the world.”

Benefits offered at Hilton include exclusive discounts through Hilton’s Team Member travel program, Go Hilton. Thrive@Hilton, the company’s flexible, adaptable approach to workplace wellness, also helps Team Members to feel more resilient, focused and optimistic about their work by allowing them to create wellbeing initiatives which truly respond to their needs.
