How to Lead a Team Remotely
Managing teams remotely has been an invaluable skill gained by workers during lockdown, says @HaysNews, the recruitment experts, and if developed, is guaranteed to benefit them long term.
As more companies acknowledge the benefits of a more flexible workforce, more than two-fifths (44%) of organisations are planning to change their flexible working policies as a result of the pandemic.
The long-term impact of this could be even more substantial, with 19% of employers expecting to eventually reduce their office space.
With this in mind, Hays believes employers need to take immediate steps to improve the way they are managing virtual teams and overcome the key challenges faced today, such as:
- Maintaining communication
- Project Management
- Talent development and management from a distance
- IT Support: less that 15% of firms provide any tech training
Although there are benefits to working face-to-face, Hays believes that utilising these skills and developing them further, will help a team to improve skills and inspire staff in new ways.
With this in mind Hays have compiled a list of ways to use remote learning strategies in future:
- Go beyond instant messaging
- Organise whole team catch-ups
- Build a culture of trust
- Encourage your team to be autonomous
- Ask you team for regular feedback on their experience
