London South East Colleges consults on its proposals for a new technology and aerospace college

London South East Colleges this week invited residents, local business, school governors and potential students to have their say on a new college, proposed for development at Biggin Hill Airport.

The proposed London Aerospace and Technology College is a partnership between London South East Colleges, London Biggin Hill Airport and the Greater London Authority. It is a pioneering state-of-the-art facility that will provide exciting new career opportunities for young people across the region. The airport itself plans to create 2,300 jobs over the next 20 years.

Additionally, the proposed college will help address the chronic shortage of aviation and aerospace engineers, as well as meeting the wider skills needs of the industry globally.

Over 100 visitors attended the meeting, which took place at Women’s Institute Hall in Biggin Hill on Monday evening (10 September). Around 70 feedback forms were completed and the response to the plans was very positive. The planning application is now being developed, for which all comments and suggestions from the public will be taken into account.
