From education to employment

Mumbles Duathlon partners with Gower College Swansea

Activity Wales Events, Wales’ leading multiport event company, has signed a new and very progressive partnership agreement with Gower College Swansea.

With Gower College Swansea now offering foundation degrees in sport and event management, they have teamed up with Activity Wales Events to offer their students frontline experience in all departments of delivering world class events.

As a leading higher education provider in South Wales, Gower College Swansea will be utilising the partnership to develop their events management programme, whilst offering students first hand experience of operational techniques and marketing plans involved with delivering such an impressive event.

Speaking about the partnership, Gower College Swansea’s Principal, Mark Jones, says:

“This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to be involved in such a high profile event where they will gain invaluable skills and knowledge. It is also a great opportunity to promote our higher education courses which continue to grow in popularity year-on-year, and show the industry links that can be gained through them. We are thankful to Activity Wales for partnering with us and excited to see the development of our students.”

Matthew Evans, CEO at Activity Wales says:

“We are delighted to be working in such a creative and innovative way with Gower College Swansea. Our marketing and operational teams will be working alongside the students and I am sure both operations will get a lot from the partnership.

Having met the team at Gower College Swansea and the facilities on offer, it’s an exciting prospect seeing both the quality of education and the passion in which it is being delivered.”

Mumbles Duathlon is set on the stunning Gower Peninsula and offers both sprint and super sprint distances to athletes from all over the UK. Taking place on the 23 March, it is a firm favourite amongst both seasoned age groupers and those new to the sport.
