Tecsew welcomes UTC Portsmouth students!

Eager for enterprise! UTC Students, Alec, Patricia and Joe joined the Tecsew team this week!

Tecsew welcomed work experience students from UTC Portsmouth this week.

The South Coast based boat cover business have been impressed by Year 12 students Patricia, Alec and Joe, due to their ability to pick up new tasks and software quickly and efficiently.

Directors John & Ally Bland said:

“It has been fantastic having Patricia, Alec and Joe with the company this week.

“These students are credits to UTC Portsmouth and have embraced the challenges we gave them. It has been a real pleasure to have such vibrant, high calibre students in with us and we wish them all the luck in the future.”

Patricia, Alec and Joe spoke of their time at Tecsew:

“We’ve really enjoyed our placements as we have constantly had jobs to do whilst observing how a small business operates. It has given us a chance to look at the marine textile industry design process; how it is applied in real life and not just as a model and the manufacturing process that follows.

“It has also been rewarding to see parts of a role that you do not normally witness frequently and it has given us the confidence to look into enterprise and business and pursue our design interests.”

Tecsew has been the leader in the marine textile market for over 35 years with in house 3D CAD design process to create bespoke products.

UTC Portsmouth is a new type of college which is providing a specialist STEM Curriculum to meet the growing demands from employers across the region.
