Trafford College HE students among the happiest in the country according to National Student Survey

Trafford College has topped the annual National Student Survey for satisfaction levels among higher education learners.

Results from the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) survey, published in the TES, names Trafford College as one of just four colleges from across the UK to have received the maximum rating of 100 per cent satisfaction. Surveys were conducted across 155 universities, 190 FE colleges and 13 alternative providers in the UK.

The NSS is undertaken annually by over 300,000 final year undergraduate students across the UK and gathers opinions about their courses as well as feedback on the student experience at their universities or colleges. Every aspect of their experience is included, from teaching and assessment, to support and resources. Results are then made available to prospective students, families and advisers to help them decide on their choice of provider, whilst also helping institutions improve their service.

Commenting on the results, Trafford College Vice Principal, James Scott said, “This is a remarkable result for Trafford College and we are incredibly proud of the feedback gained from the NSS survey. This achievement is testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff who work tirelessly to ensure that students receive the individualised, high level of support they deserve.

“It is easy to understand why our students have responded so positively to their experiences with Trafford College. The College works very closely with a large network of employers and partner universities to ensure the quality of our HE provision and our £50 million investment into buildings and resources has completely revolutionised the way students experience subjects, providing learners with world-class facilities where they can unleash their full potential.

“HE provision at the College is continuing to grow year on year, and more and more young people are shunning traditional pathways to university in favour of local, affordable HE closer to home, which the survey results highlight.”

Professor Madeleine Atkins, Hefce chief executive, said: “I’m pleased to see that the results of this year’s survey remain very positive, demonstrating the commitment of all higher education providers to deliver high quality teaching and learning for their students. The response rate is very encouraging and ensures that the student voice continues to inform enhancements in quality and in the information available to the next cohort of students.”
