From education to employment

Trafford College student has A Levels down to a Fine Art

A Level results for Trafford College are in and success stories from around the campus are flooding in as students celebrate another year of high grade passes.

Students waited patiently in the sunshine at the Altrincham campus and eagerly opened their results, revealing a 100% pass rate in subject areas including Art & Design, Biology and Chemistry to name but a few.

First in line to open her results this morning and get the celebrations underway was one of the College’s highest achievers, Monika Titane (18) from Manchester.

Chicago-born Monika moved to Latvia when she was 8 years old and has only recently relocated to the UK. Despite settling into a new country and new study environment, Monika breezed through her course work and exams, and this morning opened her envelope to reveal straight A*s and As in Fine Art, Psychology, Sociology and History. A thrilled Monika commented, “I’m so happy with my results, I’ve been incredibly nervous this morning! I felt a bit of pressure personally to live up to my predicted results and I’m just relieved I got the grades I was hoping for.

“I’d definitely recommend studying at Trafford College. It was recommended to me by a family friend and it was the perfect choice. The staff are really great, the facilities are fantastic too and you feel less pressure than you would in school, but you get the very best support. I’m now closer to my dream of becoming an Art Gallery Curator, which is something I’ve always dreamed of.”

Other stand out performers celebrating at the College this morning were two students who were proudly offered unconditional places at the University of their choice.

Robert Edwards (19) from Sale, secured his place at Salford University with his two As and a B and now plans to study Film.

Rebekka Myles Cooper (19) from Urmston also received an unconditional offer from Salford where she will now study Psychology after achieving an A*, A and C.

She commented, “I was at a sixth form college, but I didn’t feel like I was getting enough support. The environment here is completely different and you get so much support from your tutors. I’m really happy with my results.”

Trafford College Vice Principal, James Scott, commented on this year’s results, “The performance of our students once again this year has been outstanding and these results are testament to the strength and quality of A Level provision within FE Colleges. Alongside our high quality academic provision, students excel as a result of our excellent links with employers and a comprehensive study programme that effectively prepares them for that next step onto university and into successful careers.

“We are especially pleased with the strong performances we’ve seen in the areas of maths, Science and Social Sciences, which are high priority areas for the borough and beyond to support growth and productivity.

“Our results today reflect an incredible amount of hard work by our students and our tutors, and today is a day of celebration to mark these achievements. It’s fantastic to see so many smiling faces this morning as our students begin the next chapter of their journeys. We wish them all the very best for the future.”
