Welcome to FE News, find the latest news and analysis relating to technical education programmes and training.
These develop the skills and knowledge for occupations in various technical fields and industries.
Technical education refers to teaching and learning focused on equipping students with specialised knowledge and practical abilities for certain trades or occupations. It aims to cultivate job-relevant abilities through scientific principles combined with hands-on training. Programmes cover areas like engineering, IT, healthcare, skilled trades, applied sciences and more.
While professional options specifically prepare for careers needing certification, licences, degrees and beyond, technical education has a broader scope – from basic trade skills to advanced technical roles. All professionals could be considered technical training, but not all technical education leads to licensed or degreed professions.
The goal is to develop a skilled workforce to excel in key industries and roles. It provides talent pipelines for labour demands. The value lies in enabling social mobility, fulfilling employment and economic growth.
