From education to employment

Hope pursues interest in health and fitness with online course!

Hope Welsh, a Curriculum Administrator at Burton and South Derbyshire College (BSDC) has recently completed the College’s new Distance Learning course, Level 2 Improving Personal Exercise, Nutrition and Health.

Hope’s passion for exercise and healthier eating started during the first pandemic lockdown. She had always wanted to know more about how to track her calories properly, the importance and benefits of healthier eating and the benefits of different styles of workouts. Completing the course has sparked Hope’s interest in undertaking a Personal Trainer course in the future.

The online course was the perfect match for Hope as this meant that she could complete it in her free time whilst also working full time. Hope said: “There was so much variety and each section got more and more interesting.”

The Level 2 Improving Personal Exercise, Nutrition and Health is a distance learning course that equips learners with a detailed understanding of the concepts of health and well-being, including basic anatomy and physiology. It explores the role of nutrition in exercise and how to measure personal fitness levels and create a personal program of exercise and nutrition.

Hope added: “I would absolutely encourage anyone who is thinking about doing a distance learning course with BSDC. This is my second course I have now completed and enjoyed. The whole team are so kind and helpful and are available to answer any questions you may have, whether it be regarding a course you are currently taking or about a course you’re thinking about starting. Each course has deadlines that can be fitted in around work life and other busy schedules. I will personally be looking to see what course I can complete next and add to my growing knowledge”

Burton and South Derbyshire College offers a range of Distance Learning courses, which allow people to gain accredited qualifications in their own home at a time to suit their personal and professional commitments. Many of the College’s Distance learning courses also have a limited number of free spaces.
