From education to employment

Beauty Therapy Apprentice: Where Are The Now?

In 2020, Kiera Russell was working with Imagine Spa as a Level 2 Beauty Therapy Apprentice when she received the news that she had been nominated in the Cambridge Regional College Apprenticeship Awards.

The drive and positive attitude to work and education that Kiera had demonstrated, alongside the high-quality of her assessments not only resulted in Kiera completing her Level 2 qualification in 12 months, but also secured her the title of Hair and Beauty Apprentice of the Year 2020.

Kiera progressed on to the Level 3 Beauty Therapy Apprenticeship with a new employer, and has since gone on to complete this qualification, securing permanent employment with Brooke’s Beauty as a Beauty Therapist.

Kiera said, “I wanted to experience both the spa and salon environment to inform myself of where I would be best suited as I started my career. I am still at Brooke’s Beauty, and I love the salon side of the beauty industry. I hope to stay at my current salon as I get to work with talented therapists and have built up a good client base. In the future I hope to do more training as the industry progresses and eventually establish a base of clients at home.”

Gaining my qualifications through an apprenticeship gave me the tools I needed to start my career. I really enjoyed the apprenticeship experience. It gave me the confidence to achieve my dream job. If you find yourself with an opportunity to train while you learn, grab it with both hands. Listen to the professionals around you. I was lucky to be surrounded by experts specialising in all different areas of the beauty industry and I learned a lot from being in that environment.”
