FlashAcademy launches app with leading college in Birmingham, for adults to learn English

Leading Birmingham based EdTech provider, FlashAcademy, have teamed up with one of the UK’s largest providers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) in the country, South & City College Birmingham. In order to launch their brand-new English language app, aimed at those who are 16+ and do not have English as their first language. 

FlashAcademy is the UK’s number one English as an additional language (EAL) provider in the UK, present in hundreds of primary and secondary schools across the country. The EdTech company based in the Innovation campus in Birmingham have now created a tailored app for adults who want to accelerate their English language skills, helping them to open up their career pathways.

Working with South & City College Birmingham, a leading further education facility based in Birmingham, FlashAcademy’s ESOL app will be available to all students who want to learn English across their eight campuses. The platform is designed to develop English language skills, with content ranging from phonics, grammar and fluency to practical vocational vocabulary, such as health, finance, work related and day-to-day life. Helping students to master English, whilst also teaching useful phrases that will help them to navigate everyday life.  The company will also add a brand new digital ESOL assessment to the platform in coming weeks, helping FE Colleges to save hundreds of hours of admin time.

After launching in 2016, FlashAcademy is now the UK’s most popular provider of EAL software for schools, in over 650 schools nationwide. Veejay Lingiah and Richard Allen launched the EdTech company after identifying the struggles that educators are currently facing to provide support to pupils who do not have English as a first language, as well as the challenges faced by the students themselves. The leading Birmingham based scale up have now launched an app for adults and workplaces, to help adults and workers who do not have English as their first language.
