Deenside does Cardiff and Vale College a Public Service by donating body armour

Public services students at Cardiff and Vale College have benefited from a donation of public order equipment from specialists Deenside.

Deenside, who supply the Home Office and Ministry of Defence, have provided a full set of body armour from head to toe. This allows them to take a more active, hands-on approach to learning for their BTEC Level 3 Custodial Environment and Powers of Arrest modules.

“Using industry specific tools and equipment helps our students gather a greater understanding of the nature of the work that our public services undertake on day-to-day activities,” CAVC Public Services Lecturer Tom Jones said. “It’s easy to talk about things like cell extractions, show videos and analyse the thought process and impact upon the officers involved, but by donning the gear and taking part in a physical arrest activity allows for pedagogy in its most raw and effective form.

“On behalf of students and staff I’d like to thank Deenside for their generous gift of equipment – they are helping CAVC deliver next level education through experience, respect and fun!”
