Neil Coker, Group Vice Principal, Curriculum at WCG said:

“We are incredibly proud of all of our students and want to congratulate them on their A-level achievements. It is wonderful to see our students build upon the success of last year, which is a testament to the hard work of staff and students.

“Much of our A-level offer is designed with specific career and progression pathways in mind, and all our subjects are taught by specialists in their field. The level of personal tutoring for all students is excellent and this, along with high standards in teaching and learning, results in our students achieving excellent grades. Progression to university continues to be extremely strong and our students embark on their degree level study as confident individuals who are knowledgeable in their subjects.”

Royal Leamington Spa College

Sophia Adams, 17, from Harbury achieved AAB in Psychology, Sociology and Health & Social Care and is off to her first choice of Birmingham City University to study Criminology.

Sophia said:

“I was very nervous on the way here to get my results. I didn’t think that I’d get A grades so I am so shocked but happy too. It’s amazing! I’ve enjoyed studying here and always found college really supportive and they’ve helped me whenever I asked or needed it.”

Emmanuel Mafu, 19, from Coventry was relieved and delighted with his results of AAB in English Language and Literature, Psychology and History. Emmanuel has accepted a place to study Accounting and Finance at Loughborough University.

Emmanuel said:

“I am overwhelmingly relieved. The stress of waiting for the results – I’ve never experienced anything like it in my life. I didn’t sleep a wink last night!

“I’ve really enjoyed my time here at Leamington College, the teaching has been amazing and I can’t thank my English teacher enough. A-Level courses are a tough journey but have a happy ending if you put in the work. I have worked very hard and am really proud of my achievement.

“I did my AS levels at school but I didn’t do very well at all because I didn’t study. Failure was a bit of a shock to the system so I changed my attitude and decided to work hard when I came to Leamington. The teaching style here is more mature than school and that suits me. It’s also a more goal-driven environment towards getting a good career.”

Rugby College

Matt Baldock who lives in Rugby and studied at Leamington College  was very proud of his achievement of A*A*B in Business, Film Studies and Accounting. Matt is off to London where he will be choosing a career with either the civil service or global accounting firm Deloitte.

Laura Clark, 18, also from Rugby, is heading off to Gloucester University after getting the grades she needed to study for a degree in Sociology.

Laura, who achieved CCC in Health & Social Care, Psychology and Sociology, said:

“I’m so proud of achieving these three Cs. The college and staff have been so supportive, and without them I wouldn’t have had the confidence to push myself.”

Tracy Gudgeon, lecturer in Sociology and Health & Social Care, said:

“After not getting the results that she wanted in her AS levels last year, a determined Laura, with the support of her tutors has managed to improve dramatically and get the grades she needed to get a place at university.”

Daniel Thomas Ross, 18, from Rugby, secured a place at Derby University to read Journalism with a B and two C grades in Religious Studies (Hinduism), English Language & Literature and Sociology.

Daniel said:
