Pupils from Barnsley-based primary schools visited Barnsley College to take part in the Collaboration Cup, a football tournament organised by College students.

The event took place at the Honeywell campus where pupils from Burton Road, Gawber, Holy Rood Catholic, Joseph Locke, Keresforth, Mapplewell, Springvale, Summer Lane, Wilthorpe and Shawlands primary schools competed for the trophy.

The champions of the male and female tournaments were Burton Road and Joseph Locke respectively, who received their trophy from special guest, Toby Tyke.

Sarah Peet, a Level 3 Sport student and event organiser, said: “All the children really enjoyed it. It was great to have Toby Tyke there who was popular amongst all the primary school students. There was great sporting conduct throughout the whole tournament.”

Enzo Guarini, Sport tutor at Barnsley College, added: “The Collaboration Cup was a huge success, we would like to thank all the participating schools and the students who were involved. The event is a great opportunity for our students to display the coaching and leadership skills they have developed on our study programmes at Barnsley Sports Academy. We look forward to hosting the event next year!”
