Barton Peveril Student is Diving for Gold

Barton Peveril Sixth Form College student Robbie Lee qualified for the FINA World Junior Diving Championships in Kiev, Ukraine between 2nd and 9th December 2021 in his bid to represent Team GB at the Olympics.

Robbie Lee, who is in his first year of study at the College after joining from The King’s School, Fair Oak, was due to represent Team GB at the event, which was cancelled due to COVID-19, and compete in the 10 metre platform diving competition.

The Barton Peveril student earned his place in the international event after placing second in both the individual and synchronised dives at the Junior Elite Championships, held in Plymouth in October this year.

Robbie Lee has been diving for eight years and also represents Southampton Diving Academy under coach and former Olympian Lindsey Fisher. Lee has his sights set on the Olympics, World Championships, and Commonwealth Games in the future.

At Barton Peveril, Robbie Lee benefits from the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) that helps him balance his promising athletic career with his studies.

Speaking on his success, Robbie Lee said: ‘It feels really good to represent my country but also like there’s a big responsibility to perform well. I’m excited to see what the future brings.’
