Bursaries for Top Performing Students
New students at NPTC Group of Colleges have been rewarded for their outstanding GCSE exam success.
For the last eleven years, the College has awarded bursaries of £1,500 to the new intake of students from partner comprehensive schools who achieved the best results in their GCSEs. This now includes pupils from Neath Port Talbot Area, Swansea and Powys.
It is hoped the payment will help them develop to their fullest potential and also enable the College to continue achieving excellent A Level and vocational results.
NPTC Group of Colleges’ Deputy Principal, Keith Booker, was on hand to award the students with their bursaries and said that the money had helped previous students who had gone on to degree level and beyond.
“The students receiving bursaries today are the best of the best. We are delighted to reward them for their outstanding achievements. Some of our past winners have gone on to study at some of the top universities in the country.”
The NPTC Group of Colleges already has a successful and dedicated 6th Form Academy based at its Neath Campus with over 40 different A Levels and a specialist Gifted and Talented Excellence (GATE) programme for students who performed well at GCSE and hope to progress to university including the Oxbridge and Russell Group universities.
Mr Booker added:
“This is the 11th successive year the College has achieved over 99 per cent pass rate at A Level. We are very proud of our exam and vocational qualification results and we are happy to provide that boost to those pupils who achieve outstanding results in their GCSEs.”
In addition to the GATE Programme, NPTC Group of Colleges is also part of the largest hub for the Seren Network: Supporting Wales’ Brightest programme. The programme supports high achievers through a programme of super-curricular activities and helps students gain entry to the UK’s leading university.
