Government send chicken boxes warning of the dangers of carrying a knife to takeaways in England and Wales #KnifeFree

Following this morning’s news (15 Aug) that the Government has sent chicken boxes warning of the dangers of carrying a knife to takeaways in England and Wales, Alastair Graham, CEO of AgeChecked, has said:

“This campaign may help to highlight the consequences of knife crime amongst certain groups. But, of course, the causes of this issue are incredibly varied and complex – so there is no silver bullet with regards to tackling it.

“A key issue is young people’s ease of access to knives. Many shops still fall short when it comes to their age-checking processes. Effective age verification makes it harder for minors to get their hands on dangerous weapons in the first place and helps to reinforce the public safety message.”
Alastair is also Chair of the Age Verification Providers Association.
