Total People, a leading North West apprenticeships and training provider, has received positive findings from Ofsted (@Ofstednews) following an interim visit in November.

Total People welcomed Ofsted for a two day interim visit conducted via Microsoft Teams which focused on work undertaken during lockdown and how the training provider was supporting learner progress, delivery, safeguarding and wellbeing.

The Interim Visit Report highlighted a number of positive measures:

  • learners said their continued learning provision during lockdown had given them a focus during uncertain times
  • Learning Coaches altered curriculum order due to COVID-19 restrictions which saw learners achieving higher standards when returning to practical workshop activities
  • Learning Coaches liaised with employers to support apprentices in terms of planning their workloads
  • Total People leaders increased their focus on mental health and well-being for staff, apprentices and learners during the pandemic.

The report stated: “Apprentices speak highly of the support they receive from learning coaches. They say that the increased support has motivated them to make progress on their apprenticeship.”

The training provider, which is Ofsted rated ‘Good’, quickly moved to online learning following the announcement of the national lockdown in March. It now operates a mixture of online and onsite learning for over 2,500 learners following positive feedback to blended learning provision.

Melanie Nicholson, Total People Managing Director, said:

“We are delighted that Ofsted has recognised the hard work of our dedicated teams throughout the pandemic and the positive impact that has had on our learner progression and wellbeing.

“At Total People, we put our learners and employers at the heart of what we do. I’d like to thank our colleagues for their ongoing commitment, and also our learners and stakeholders who took time to speak to the Ofsted team.”
