UK Quality Mark for Seevic College

The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) has confirmed the quality and standards of provision at Seevic College (the College) following its review in May.

A team of QAA reviewers visited the College and judged that its academic standards, the quality and enhancement of its student learning opportunities, and the quality of information about its learning opportunities all meet UK expectations.

The review identified two examples of good practice, comprising:

  • the high level of individualised support provided at all stages of students’ engagement with the College, which enables students to develop their personal potential

  • the effective arrangements to support the academic and professional development of students.

The review made a number of recommendations for improvement, including:

  • strengthen the processes for the design, development and approval of Pearson programmes

  • review and develop processes for capturing, actioning and monitoring issues identified in Pearson external examiner reports.

Jan Burton, Higher Education Manager at Seevic College, said the College was pleased to receive such a positive review.

She said: ‘One of the key successes at Seevic College is the individualised support throughout the student journey and we are really pleased that QAA has recognised this as one of our strengths.

‘At Seevic, we have a proven track record of high achievement with 100 per cent of all students to date going on to secure work in their chosen field.’

QAA’s Higher Education Reviews are carried out by experts from other universities and colleges. Every review team includes a student reviewer, because QAA believes that students should be partners in the quality assurance of their education.

The team that reviewed Seevic College comprised Roshani Swift (QAA) , Sarah Riches (independent reviewer) and Matthew Kearns (student reviewer, Newcastle University).

A successful review means that the College can display the QAA Quality Mark, indicating to UK and international students that it meets national requirements for standards and quality.
