From education to employment

Grimsby Institute of Further and Higher Education Involved in Film Project

The Immage Studios of Immingham, part of the East Coast Media, are getting prepared for their new project: the feature film from Owen Carey Jones, “Rough Cut”.

“Rough Cut” is the recent production of Owen Jones. It is a story of action and adventure that takes place in the South of France and reveals the business of the synthetic diamond trade. The film follows Jones” last success, “A Mind of Her Own”, a Leeds-based story. This was a much acclaimed film in Europe and America, where it won the Heartland Festival in Indianapolis and was invited to be part of the Phoenix Film Festival in Arizona.

Owen also took the film to the Cannes Film Festival where it got the attention and interest of Film France. Consequently, the French company “Ministry of Film” will provide a co-producer for Owen’s new project “Rough Cut”, which will be filmed in the area of Saint-Tropez. Owen Jones started as one of the many ambitious filmmakers that had no chances in getting into the big industry, but with the help of the Immingham’s studios scheme he was able to complete his film and bring to life his dream of being a director.

Opening Doors for the Future

The Immingham Studios” scheme is part of the East Coast Media which belongs to the Grimsby Institute of Further and Higher Education. They are one of the main schools in the United Kingdom providing training and education in the areas of media production, including digital video, journalism, photography and professional writing. This specific project of the Immingham Studios was funded by Yorkshire Forward, the regional government development agency, which during the last three years has created over 50 businesses in the region with the aim of giving opportunities to ambitious people to get into the highly competitive media area.

Owen Jones is one of the many to be supported by this programme where individual projects are funded. In his case, he is now recognized for his work in the industry. With a “push” from these schemes, it is possible to make more dreams come true and at the end good work, effort and enthusiasm will always be rewarding.
