Educational days out with Uber Boat by Thames Clippers

SWOT UP AND SAIL THROUGH THE CAPITAL WITH UBER BOAT BY THAMES CLIPPERS 

Head to the river on the last week of school holidays and get ahead of the class with Uber Boat by Thames Clippers. Make the most of London’s fun-filled and educational family activities along the way.

Take in London’s most famous landmarks, sailing past the lastminute.com London Eye, Big Ben, The Tower of London, The O2 and Battersea Power Station while travelling to the summer’s best events, and educational sights. Grab a snack from the onboard screen-protected bar, head out to the back deck to take in the sunshine and keep the family entertained with free Learning the Ropes activity books.

Highlights of events and educational fun taking place along the river this week include:

English taught by one of the greats
Learn about the Elizabethan world and the famous playwright William Shakespeare at Shakespeare’s Globe. The world-renowned theatre, education centre, and cultural landmark is located on the bank of the River Thames in London, a few steps from Bankside Pier. Reopened from 21 August, hear the story of the original 1599 theatre, visit the special photography exhibition, sneak a peek at some of the costumes and even stand on one of the most famous stages in the world.

A whale of a time during biology
Sail along the Thames to London Eye (Waterloo) Pier to visit the SEA LIFE London Aquarium on the South Bank. From magnificent sharks, colourful clownfish to inquisitive sea turtles, SEA LIFE has all kinds of sea creatures from the curious and the rescued to the rare and the enigmatic. Please note that pre-booking online is required.

Bring history to life
Explore London’s iconic castle and world heritage site, The Tower of London, without the usual crowds. You’ll get up close to the Crown Jewels, meet the legendary Yeoman Warders and ravens and see the Tower like never before. Disembark at Tower Pier and explore her Majesty’s 1000-year-old fortress.

Head east for an outdoor art lesson
Travel with Uber Boat by Thames Clippers to the Greenwich and Docklands International Festival (GDIF) with installations and events through to 12 September 2020. The festival will be celebrating the NHS, togetherness, and the environment across several locations easily accessed via piers at Canary Wharf, Greenwich, North Greenwich, Royal Wharf and Woolwich (Royal Arsenal). At Dial Arch Square in Woolwich, join Stephen Stockbridge in weaving and reflecting on lockdown as part of a nest-like installation. Socially distanced workshops for families and friends will offer space to contribute messages and weaving skills to an evolving artwork.

A PE session with a view
Sail to North Greenwich Pier and visit Up at The O2 to suit up, boot up and harness up to climb one of London’s iconic buildings, The O2.  Leading the way will be an expert climb guide to share interesting facts to help you learn along the way. At the top, you’ll be standing 52 metres up, with 360-degree views across the historic part of London. You can spot famous landmarks up to 13 miles away.
