Habia searches for hairdressers with The Skills Factor

Habia, the hair and beauty industry standards setting body, will launch a series of competitions and events named The Skills Factor in the search for the next generation of hairdressers in the making.

As part of Apprenticeship Week (23 – 27 February), The Skills Factor is open to apprenticeship learners or those that have completed their hairdressing apprenticeship in the last two years and aged between 16 and 25. Winners will be invited to train for a place in the Habia Skills Team.

VTCT, the not-for-profit, specialist hair and beauty awarding body, has a close relationship with Habia, and is proud to offer the hair and barbering apprenticeship.

Nic Robinson, Director of Business Development at VTCT comments: "The Skills Factor competitions organised by Habia to coincide with Apprenticeship Week are an inspiring way to complement the event. The competition provides young learners with something to strive for, encouraging them to hone and perfect their hairdressing skills. Apprenticeships are a positive and practical route of learning and allow students to gain first-hand commercial experience whilst also studying."

Erik Lander, Habia Skills team manager says: "The Apprenticeship Week talent search is a fantastic opportunity for young professionals in our industry, as the prize is a place in our skills team and the chance to perform at shows, exhibitions and events across the globe. The winners will have the technical skills, the ability and knowledge needed to perform, but they will also need that extra something – the drive, the determination and the confidence to get up on stage in front of hundreds, possibly thousands, and give it their all."

Mr Robinson added: "Those lucky enough to compete in The Skills Factor will have an incredible and unique experience, while those who successfully win and make it into the Habia Skills Teams will have endless opportunities for future progression."
