STAR Award Winners Announced

On October 13, the annual STAR awards took place, celebrating the successes of individuals from across Further Education and Sixth-Form College, community based providers, prisons, work-based learning and employers, adult education services and UK online centres. Of over 1,600 nominations, 13 winners were selected and were presented with a prize of £1,000, a trophy and a certificate at the awards ceremony.

On October 13, the annual STAR awards took place, celebrating the successes of individuals from across Further Education and Sixth-Form College, community based providers, prisons, work-based learning and employers, adult education services and UK online centres. Of over 1,600 nominations, 13 winners were selected and were presented with a prize of £1,000, a trophy and a certificate at the awards ceremony.

Key criteria for winners was an ability to make a difference in the lives of learners and a willingness to exceed expectations and enrich the learning experience. Ceremony attendees included Kim Howells, Minister of State for Lifelong Learning, Further Education and Higher Education, who commented that “The contribution that front-line staff in the learning and skills sector make every day to people’s lives and aspirations is crucial to the Government’s drive to improve standards. The winners have all shown ways of helping students reach their potential through life-changing experiences in learning.”
