Barnsley College Catering and Hospitality student Kyle Hall enjoyed cooking live on stage in the food theatre at The Great Yorkshire Show.

Under the supervision of the College’s Catering and Hospitality Course Leader Martyn Hollingsworth, Kyle had to prepare, cook and serve lamb rump with greens and black pudding and a rhubarb and ginger fool. Kyle and Martyn shared the stage with TV celebrity chef, Rosemary Shrager; Chef Patron, Michael Wignall; and Head Chef, Callum Bower plus many more.

Kyle, 21, said: “I was happy to be asked to help out at the Great Yorkshire Show. Martyn gave me lots of support and the cookery demonstration was an incredible experience! Just being around a lot of talented and inspirational people was brilliant.”

Martyn added: “It’s important for our students to understand the different varieties of careers in catering and showcasing food recipes is one career path that is available to them. It was a great experience to be part of The Great Yorkshire Show and Kyle fully enjoyed himself.”
