Barnsley College leads the way on student satisfaction

@BarnsleyCollege has been ranked as the best South Yorkshire College for overall student satisfaction in the 2019/20 Higher Education National Student Survey.

The College’s overall student satisfaction score rose from 85% in 2018/19 to 88.39%, comfortably above the national average of 82.65%.

Students reported high satisfaction levels across all areas, from teaching, learning and academic support to the learning community and student voice. Below are individual breakdowns of the College’s student satisfaction score in each of the area measured:

  • Teaching on my course = 86%
  • Learning Opportunities = 92%
  • Assessment and Feedback = 83%
  • Academic Support = 88%
  • Organisation and Management = 80%
  • Learning Community = 86%
  • Student Voice = 82%

Over 311,000 final year students studying higher and further education with UK universities and colleges took part in the survey which ran from 6 January to 30 April 2020, with many UK providers seeing significant falls in their overall satisfaction scores.

Yiannis Koursis, Barnsley College Principal and Chief Executive, said: “The student response in the survey reflects our shared commitment to continuing to improve on the excellent student experience and support we deliver, during what has been an incredibly challenging year. It is very pleasing to receive such positive feedback from our students and we remain committed to providing them with a learning environment in which they can succeed.”
