Former Lord Mayor of the City of London, Charles Bowman, has been awarded a knighthood for services to trust in business, international trade and the City of London in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

Charles was commended, in particular, for his “outstanding” performance as Lord Mayor in 2017-2018, as well as his “unremitting” efforts to secure greater business transparency and accountability through his ‘Business of Trust’ campaign and his work with the ICAEW. He was also instrumental in the development of the National Trade Academy Programme.

His “Leaders of Tomorrow” programme to develop promising business talent and charitable work were also recognised.

Meanwhile, Ian Seaton has been awarded an MBE for services to education and training in London. He was elected to the Court of Common Council in 2009 and he has served as a board member for the schools linked to the City Corporation.

Ian’s service as a member of the Board of Governors of the City of London School, and latterly as Chairman has been marked by increasing educational opportunities based on means testing for a broader range of aspirants. He has also played an important role in developing musical excellence within the school.
