EastEnders star celebrates students at award ceremony

EastEnders star and former Westminster Kingsway student, Steve Mcfadden, celebrated the hard work of students who have excelled at the College’s King’s Cross Centre this year.

Steve, best known for his role as Phil Mitchell in the BBC TV series EastEnders, was a student at the King’s Cross Centre and said: “Westminster Kingsway College is very close to my heart and I wouldn’t be where I am today if I hadn’t studied here. There is a fantastic spirit and educational achievement at the College and the student awards today recognise this.”

The student awards were in recognition of both 14-19 and adult learners at the King’s Cross Centre, with nominations coming from heads of department, teachers and support staff from the Learning Centre and Learner Experience teams. Each award category had several nominees who received a certificate and then one student from each award winning a laptop.

Mark Hilton, Vice Principal at the centre was on hand to give out awards and said: “Congratulations to all the well-deserved winners at this year’s Student Awards. I and every staff member at Westminster Kingsway College is very proud of your success and the hard work you’ve shown this past year. Well done.”

Some highlights were Mohamed Al Faleh’s award for the dedication he showed during his work experience, and Courtney Rowden was praised for the overall progress she’s made in the last year.

Our amazing music students also performed at the awards with a fantastic set that had their fellow students cheering and singing along in the crowd.
