Exam Success for Brockenhurst College Students #ResultsDay2019
More than 600 A Level students at Brockenhurst College received their results today with the overall pass rate at 97%.
The percentage of students achieving A*-B grades was 40%, with almost two thirds achieving A*-C grades across all their subjects.
100% pass rates were achieved in 23 A Level subjects.
Over 70% A*-B grades were achieved in the following A Level subjects: Further Maths, Philosophy, Sociology, Dance, Drama and Theatre Studies, French, Fine Art, Graphics and Textiles.
Students who joined Brock with an average of grade B/6 or above at GCSE achieved a 99% overall pass rate, with 62% achieving A*-B grades and 83% A*-C grades.
The College was also celebrating the success of Vocational course students who collectively achieved another incredible 100% pass rate. Those results were known in July.
On Vocational courses 48% of students achieved a triple Distinction* or a triple Distinction, the equivalent to achieving three A*/A grades at A Level.
In Level 3 Performing Arts, 95% of students achieved a triple Distinction* or triple Distinction., with 50% achieving D*D*D*, the highest possible grade.
Nineteen (39%) Level 3 Business students received D*D*D*.
Nearly a third of Level 3 Engineering students achieved D*D*D*.
Over three quarters of Level 3 Sports and Exercise students achieved a D*D*D* or DDD.
Carlo Cousins, previously from Winton Academy, achieved an A* in A Level Geography and As in A Levels Physics and Maths and will be going to the University of Southampton to study Physics in the Autumn. Carlo said: “I feel stunned. This is a real curveball for me. I did better than I thought I would in the subject I was extremely worried about.”
Annabelle Pointer, previously from Hounsdown School, achieved As in A Levels Maths, Music and Physics and will be studying Physics with Maths at the University of Southampton in September. Anabelle said: “I’m very, very happy right now, I wasn’t expecting three As so it’s amazing news. I’ve got what I needed to get onto my chosen course at University of Southampton.”
Lee Turner, who achieved D*D*D* in the Engineering Level 3 Extended Diploma, said: “I feel ecstatic with my results. Two years of hard work has really paid off.”
Imogen Daniel, previously from Noadswood School, achieved an A* in A Level Psychology and As in A Levels Biology and Chemistry said: “I’m so relieved that all my revision and hard work throughout my time at Brock has paid off. I’m so happy that I got into my first choice of university as it’s always been a dream of mine to study Psychology at the University of Sussex. I can’t wait to start in September.”
William Pitman, previously from The Romsey School, achieved D*D*D* in Business Level 3 at Brock and has accepted an accountancy apprenticeship with KPMG. He commented: “I’m amazed at my results and I‘m so pleased that I received the top grade. There are so many opportunities at Brock, one of which is networking with potential employers. This gave me a real insight into my career after college and I’m very grateful for all the support I received from my tutors.”
Principal Di Roberts CBE said: “I am delighted yet again with our A Level and Vocational results and I am tremendously proud of our students’ achievements.
“This is, as always, a great day of celebration for us all and I wish all the students who leave us today every success for the future.”
