Excellent #ResultsDay for Award-Winning NPTC Group of Colleges

The wait is over for students at NPTC Group of Colleges who are celebrating after achieving top results in their A Levels and vocational qualifications.

Many of the class of 2019 have secured places at top universities or got the qualifications to land their dream jobs, including Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics student Connor Doyle who has secured his place at Cambridge University, to study Natural Sciences at Girton College, after achieving A* in all subjects.

Whilst it’s Oxford bound for Si Wai Hui, who achieved an outstanding A* in Biology, A* in Chemistry and A* Mathematics. Si Wai has been accepted to study Medicine at Jesus College; he also won Gold at the 2019 Biology Olympiad – a first for the College. Ewan Partington who also achieved A*s in Chemistry, Physics, Maths and Further Maths is heading off to Bath University to study Mathematics.

The incredibly talented Matthew Lawrence, who at just 17 years old, achieved an outstanding four A*s in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics. He is now planning to study Mathematics at Imperial College London.

With results like this it’s not hard to see how the College increased its overall A*-A results to an exceptional 20 per cent with students achieving a remarkable 100 per cent pass rate in 26 A Level subjects, 46.3 per cent achieved A* to B grades with 76 per cent gaining A* to C grades. For the students who followed the Gifted and Talented (Gate) programme, it is also good news with 85% achieving A*/A grades and 100% achieved A*-B grades.

In addition, 74 students achieved triple distinctions grades in the Extended National Diploma qualifications, with 30 students achieving the highest possible grade profile of triple distinction stars (D*D*D*) which is the equivalent to three A* at A level.

The excellent results for 2019 top off an incredible year for the College which was named the Top Training Provider in Wales and second in the entire UK for Teaching by the School Leavers Awards.

The brand new Sixth Form Academy Hub at Neath College was also recognised for significantly improving the student experience at the Education Buildings Wales Awards. The hub is now a bustling activity centre for students incorporating a large social space and open learning environment.

A Levels

Matthew Lawrence: A* A* A* A* in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics. Matthew, who is just 17 years old, is planning to study Mathematics at Imperial College London.

Ewan Partington: A* A* A* A* in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Further Mathematics. Accepted to study Mathematics at Bath University.

Si Wai Hui:  A*A*A* in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics. Si Wai is off to Oxford to read Medicine. He is the first student from NPTC Group of Colleges to win a gold medal at the British Biology Olympiad.

Connor Doyle: A* A* A* in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics. Connor has been accepted to Cambridge University – Girton College to read Natural Sciences.

Aeron Morgan: AAA in Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology. Accepted to study Medicine at York University.

Rachel Penny: AAAA in Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics and Religious Studies. Rachel is going to Swansea University to study Accountancy.

Ahki Uddin: AABB in English Language, Welsh Baccalaureate, Health and Social Care, B in Sociology. Accepted to Cardiff University to study Journalism.

Muntaha Rahman: AABB in Sociology, Welsh, History and English. Muntaha is going to Swansea University to study Law.

Nia Jones:  A*AA in Spanish, French and Economics. Accepted to Cardiff University to study Business Management and Spanish.

Tyler Joseph: AAA in Biology, Mathematics and Chemistry. Tyler is going to Swansea University to study Applied Medical Sciences.

Cameron Jones: AAA in Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry. Accepted to Swansea University to study Applied Medical Sciences.

Charlotte McNab:  AAA in Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology. Charlotte is heading to Bristol University to study Medicine.

Alisha Jenkins: AAB in History, Psychology and Law. Accepted to Cardiff University to study Psychology.

Twins Rebecca and Kate Williams both achieved straight A grades. Rebecca: A* A* A* in French, Textiles and Sociology. Rebecca has been accepted to Warwick to study Law. Kate: A* A* A Law, Sociology and Psychology and is off to Swansea University to study Foundation Art.

Twins Ffion and Lowri Beynon have both achieved triple-A grades in History, French and Economics and History, French and Law respectively. Ffion has been accepted to study at Manchester University and Lowri is going to York.

Vocational Qualifications

Aimee John: Triple Distinction Star (D*D*D*) in Forensic Science. Accepted to Cardiff University to study Healthcare Science.

Kayleigh Mellor: D*D*D* in BTEC Construction and the Built Environment. Kayleigh is going to the University of West England to study Architecture and Environmental Engineering.

Jay Davies: D*D*D* in BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT. Jay is going to Cardiff Metropolitan University to study Computer Science.

Katie Eley: D*D*D* in Level 3 Sport (Performance and Excellence). Katie is going on to do an apprenticeship in HSBC, take some time out before considering going into higher education.

Megan Harries: D*D*D* in Level 3 Sport and Exercise Science. Accepted to Durham University to study Sport, Physical Activity and Exercise.

Emma Cullingford: D*D*D* in Level 3 Sport and Exercise Science. Emma is going to Chester University to study Physical Education.

Kia Sambrook: D*D*D* in Level 3 Computing and Information Technology. The only girl in her class, Kia has been accepted to Aberystwyth University to study Computer Science.

Lloyd John: D*D*D* in BTEC Level 3 Business. Lloyd is planning to take a year out of education to weigh up his options.

Mitchell Tristram: D*D*D in BTEC Level 3 Business course. Accepted to study Business Management at Swansea University.

Jac Thomas: DDD in BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT. Accepted to Aberystwyth University to study Computer Science.

Niamh Bevan and Savannah Elkins achieved DDD in Level 3 Health and Social Care. Niamh is staying in College to undertake a Foundation Degree in Care Studies.

Seven students studying Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care achieved D*D*D*. Amy Price, Lucy Collard, Carla Jones, Niamh Natasha Pugh, Lauren Tabberer, Trudi Hancock and Ruth Jenkins all achieved the top grade possible.
