From education to employment

High-quality work experience placements to reduce youth unemployment and transform the lives of young people

#YoungPeopleWork – @MovementToWork is a not-for-profit coalition of UK employers, government and civil society committed to reducing the UK youth unemployment rate and, more importantly, transforming the lives of young people.

Founded in 2013, Movement to Work has focused on providing high-quality work experience placements and other vocational opportunities to 16-30 year olds who are not in employment, education or training (NEET). Over 95,000 placements have been delivered by our employer network made up of organisations including Accenture, BT, BAE Systems, Civil Service, HS2, NHS, Tesco, Unilever and more.

Why is our work important?

The covid-19 pandemic has created a surge in youth unemployment and pushed many individuals further away from the labour market. Our mechanism is a proven tool in breaking the vicious cycle of ‘no experience, no job’ that is hindering so many from stepping on to the career ladder. Our employer network have realised additional benefits including lower recruitment costs, improved staff retention and development opportunities for existing staff.

Why now?

Analysis suggests that disadvantaged young people will be amongst the worst affected groups of people as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. Yet they could also be the smartest solution to rebuilding our workforce. Learn how YOU can get involved here.
