Leicester City Office Space Transformed into Luxury Student Accommodation

A conservation area in Leicester is being sensitively restored into luxury student apartments which will be welcoming a cohort of new students next month.

Stepnell’s East Midlands team have worked in partnership with Zone Developments for a fourth time to bring another high-end student residential scheme to the city.

STUDENTS in Leicester will now have an even greater choice of luxury student accommodation once a new development in the city completes.

Stepnell has partnered with Zone Developments to bring high-quality student accommodation to De Montfort Street in the centre of Leicester; the fourth project of its kind in the city which the team have delivered.

The impressive scheme will be completed in time for the new academic year and has already proved so popular that all of the available 18 apartments have been let.

Formally office space for a commercial property agent, the new residential development will feature open-plan studios set over three floors with modern facilities such as an onsite gym and cinema rooms.

Neil Thakkar director at Zone said: “Leicester is a prime location for our sought-after luxury student developments and we’re really pleased to be working with Stepnell once again to bring another exclusive student residential scheme to the city.

“The construction team from Stepnell understand our needs and always deliver to the standard we expect. Previous developments delivered by the team have been recognised with several industry awards, so it was an easy decision to reappointment them on this project.”

Tom Sewell, East Midlands regional director from Stepnell also commented.

“We are pleased to have been appointed by Zone Developments again to help expand its portfolio of student accommodation even further,” he said.

“Our site team has been working within a relatively restricted site in a conservation area to refurbish buildings which were previously used as commercial premises. We have introduced a three-storey new build element which complements the existing buildings and provides the additional space needed to deliver exciting new living spaces given its former use as offices. This has all been delivered with the expertise of our local employees which have been complemented by our long standing supply chain partners.

“We’re very experienced in working on constrained sites and delivering projects within the higher education sector. We take great pride in refurbishing existing buildings to revive them for a new use and relish the challenge of working in constrained and challenging sites.

“We look forward to handing over the keys to our friends at Zone Developments.”

Volta Designs are the architect on the project.
