NUS SCOTLAND RESPOND TO SCOTTISH LABOUR MANIFESTO

Commenting, NUS Scotland President Liam McCabe:

“The Scottish Labour manifesto published today sets out a number of policy proposals that would positively impact on the lives of Scotland’s students.

“Policy commitments include improved funding for the education sector, free bus travel for under-25s, a real Living Wage for all workers over 16, and the promise of increased cost-of-living support for students.

“While education is devolved, public funding available for education and skills in Scotland increases or decreases based on decisions taken by the UK Parliament. Whatever the result of the general election, the next UK Government must increase investment in education and, in doing so, increase the amount of resource available for Scotland’s education system. Students deserve nothing less.”
