From education to employment

Sterling start for newly merged Trafford College Group

Dean of Higher Education, Mark Harris

As a part of The Trafford College Group, Trafford College and Stockport College have been recognised as a Higher Education provider that delivers ‘high quality teaching, learning and outcomes for students’ and has been awarded Silver status in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).

As one of only four colleges in Greater Manchester to receive Silver status the award is early evidence of the strong progress and benefits of the recent merger which took place just eight weeks ago and will deliver a £16m investment into renovating Stockport College facilities over the next two years.

Mark Harris, Dean of Higher Education, said:

“We are extremely pleased to receive the Silver Award as part of the Government’s teaching excellent framework (TEF), recognising the work of our staff who are committed to delivering an excellent teaching and learning experience. At The Trafford College Group many of our courses are co-created with employers, ensuring our students are equipped with the skills to progress into meaningful employment.”

As well as the silver award, the Trafford College Group received individual feedback that commended student satisfaction levels and progression to further study or employment. The panel noted that ‘students from all backgrounds achieve excellent outcomes’, that ‘full-time student satisfaction levels and continuation rates are consistent with the Trafford College Group benchmarks’ and that ‘part-time student satisfaction levels, as well as rates for progression to further study or employment, are exceptionally high and above the benchmarks’.
