From education to employment

Université Paris-Saclay and McGill University partner to boost international scientific education and research

Université Paris-Saclay has signed a cooperation agreement with McGill University, the most international university in Canada.

Recognized as one of the world’s top research universities – 32nd in QS World Rankings 2018, 2nd in Canada – McGill University also ranks top among Canadian universities for doctoral and medical programmes. The student population, from 150 countries, is the most international of all Canadian universities.

The faculties at McGill University of Science, Engineering, Medicine and Management correspond well to the fields of excellence at Université Paris-Saclay. Both institutions propose to support student and academic mobility to facilitate the development of joint activities, including new international scholarships.

McGill University has entered into collaborative agreements with several members of Université Paris-Saclay. In particular, there is an ongoing collaboration between McGill University’s Faculty of Engineering and CentraleSupélec’s Industrial Engineering Laboratory (LGI) on the theme of innovation in design and production. Université Paris-Saclay scientists are also developing projects with McGill in life sciences, particularly in the area of medicine such as artificial blood cells and neuroscience.

The joint scientific activities over the past five years have already resulted in nearly 1,000 co-publications in various fields, from engineering and mathematics, to biochemistry and genetics. The co-supervisions of PhD students that already exists between the institutions will help initiate the implementation of a Master thesis co-supervision agreement.

The signing of this partnership agreement will make it possible to further develop multiple agreements that will benefit both McGill and UPSaclay, with training opportunities in both French and English.

Professor Philippe Oxhorn, International Vice President of McGill University, says:

“The Université Paris-Saclay campus offers an extremely stimulating and dynamic environment. The high degree of educational innovation will be appreciated by researchers and students alike.”
