A Careers Day involving the Army, Air Force, Marines, Navy, Met Police and HM Border Force saw students on New City College’s Uniformed Public Services course receive fantastic advice and support towards their future career goals.

The students, studying at Havering Sixth Form campus, in Hornchurch, listened to presentations and talks from each of the services and were able to visit stalls and ask questions one-to-one with representatives.

A group of former students who had completed the course and progressed to work in the services, were also on hand during the day to talk about their day-to-day life at work and give tips to the students on career opportunities, job applications and interviews.

This was the 13th Annual Careers Day held by the Public Services course and was much appreciated by the students.

One said: “This event was interesting and provided us with a lot of important information. All the service representatives were friendly and easy to talk to and they were very open and willing to answer all our questions. It was great to be so interactive with people who actually work in the profession that we want to get into, and who know what it’s really like.”

The Uniformed Public Services course is run at New City College Havering Sixth Form, Epping Forest and Hackney campuses. The course is designed to make you a more attractive candidate for employment in many of the public services such as the Police, Fire Brigade, Ambulance Service, British Army, Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, or Prison Service.
