Good Assessment Report on Islington LSC London Central Funded Project

A training provider in Islington that provides work ““ based learning for young people in the area is celebrating the receipt of a “good” inspection grade from the Adult Learning Inspectorate (ALI).

Springboard Islington is a Learning and Skills Council (LSC) London Central funded project. It received the grade for the overall effectiveness of its provision. Springboard Islington has headquarters in Holloway and through both these premises and its additional learning centres in Islington and Haringey offers opportunities for learning to some 600 learners each year. The ALI report stated that the provision of on ““ the ““ job learning and support was good, and allowed the learner to choose from a broad range of good resources and work placement activities.

Springboard Islington offers a wide range of opportunities for the learners, such as apprenticeships and training towards National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) in early years education and childcare, sport and recreation, wood occupations, painting and decorating and information technology. Springboard also offers the LSC programme for 16 to 18 year olds who are not involved in employment, education or training, the successful Entry to Employment programme.

Good Quality Access to Training

The Head of Quality and Performance for the LSC London Central, Stephen Bagley, welcomed the report from the ALI and the recognition of the achievements of the centre, saying: “We are very pleased with the success of Springboard Islington in engaging young people in learning, their effective partnership with employers and the positive development of their provision. Springboard Islington is playing an important part in ensuring that young people in the areas they serve are able to access good quality education and training.”

The Manager of Springboard Islington, Denis Dillon, echoed these sentiments, saying: “As one of the largest, successful training provider in North London, in business for nearly 30 years, we are extremely proud of this accomplishment. We are particularly delighted at the recognition we”ve received for all the work we do in supporting disadvantaged young people. We”ve demonstrated significant strengths in leadership and management, partnership working and in enabling young people to progress to positive learning and employment destinations.”
