From education to employment

Learndirect will deliver the course in Welsh

The first NVQ delivered in Welsh will be launched at this year’s National Eisteddfod cultural festival. Lord Dafydd Elis-Thomas, the Presiding Officer for the National Assembly for Wales, will officially launch the new Health & Social Care NVQ on the 8th August 07 from the learndirect stand within the Exhibition Hall.

The new Health & Social Care NVQ: “working in care ““ induction standards” will provide underpinning knowledge and skills in understanding the principles of care. This course will help people build the core skills necessary to provide exceptional care and work towards a nationally recognised qualification through the medium of Welsh.

The course is online and can be accessed at home or the workplace or within over 70 learndirect learning centres throughout Wales.

Jeff Greenidge, Head of learndirect in Wales explains: “learndirect’s online NVQ courses enable businesses to ensure that their employees deliver services to the required national standards. The flexibility that learndirect offers organisations is of a great benefit as employees can learn at a time, pace and place to suit both the employer and their workforce.

Up until now, the NVQ courses have been offered exclusively in English but it was felt that certain NVQs, delivered through the medium of Welsh would be of great benefit to employees and employers alike. This is the first online course that we are able to offer but are hoping to offer more Welsh language materials in the near future.”

learndirect will be at the Eisteddfod throughout the festival from the 8th ““ 11th August and invite everyone to come along and find out more about their courses. Alternatively, for more information, visit the website www.learndirect.co.uk
