From education to employment

Skills funding chiefs to headline ALP Conference 2010

All three main funding chiefs will share a platform at this year’s Association of Learning Provider’s (ALP) Conference on 14-15 July.

The flagship event marks the first time Skills Funding Agency’s Geoff Russell, National Apprenticeship Service’s Simon Waugh and Peter Lauener, of the Young People’s Learning Agency, will offer their views together on how machinery government changes are panning out.

ALP chief executive Graham Hoyle OBE said: “The post-election timing of ALP’s annual conference should make this a really interesting event with a new set of ministers keen to set out their agendas.

“The employment and skills sector is facing significant challenges in a much tighter fiscal climate and whichever political party is in power, the conference will present an excellent opportunity for funders and frontline providers to exchange views on how providers can deliver more for less.”

Other keynote speakers include Christine Gilbert, chief inspector at Ofsted, and Martin Doel, chief executive of the Association of Colleges.

FE News is joining ALP for the highly anticipated two-day event, which will be held at the Park Plaza Riverbank Hotel in Central London.
